Evedon Lakeside Retreat supplies kayaks with oars & life jackets at no charge. There are several walking trails too, which are great for stretching your legs & enjoying the area.
Note: some of these cabins are two stories and have a spiral staircase, which could be an issue for those who aren’t very mobile, or for families with small children who haven’t yet mastered stairs!
Outside, there are communal fire pits which are fun & social. There are several walking trails too, which are great for stretching your legs & enjoying the area.
We didn’t eat at the restaurant but did get takeaway pizza. It was delicious!

Camping in Ferguson Valley
One of the best things to do in the Ferguson Valley is a good, old-fashioned camping trip! That’s right: it’s not far from Perth, so you can head south on a Friday night after work and still set up your tent before dark.
Two of the premier camping spots are Wellington Dam (the Potters Gorge campsite) and the Honeymoon Pool campsite. These are also two of the area’s best-known attractions for visitors who prefer camping over cottages or farm stays.
We glamped at Potters Gorge in a great setup offered by a kiosk at the Dam. You can read about our glamping experience and the other options in Complete Potters Gorge, Wellington Dam, Honeymoon Pool Camping Reviews.
Final Words

We absolutely love the Ferguson Valley, and we’d happily return again and again. There’s something rather special about waking up to those beautiful countryside views, spending the day exploring and then heading back to your own little cottage or farm stay.
Though there are only a few places to stay, some are real gems! We recommend booking ahead, especially if you’re visiting over a weekend or during the school holidays, as some properties have only a handful of rooms or cottages.
Hopefully, you’ve found somewhere that suits your trip and group perfectly. Whether it’s a farm stay with the kids or a cosy retreat for two, we’re sure you’ll enjoy your time in the Fergie as much as we have!
FAQs
The Ferguson Valley is a great destination year-round, although the experience changes quite a bit with the seasons. January and February are generally the hottest months, with plenty of sunshine for exploring the wineries and countryside. August is one of the coolest months, with more chance of rain and fewer visitors. If you love cosy cottages, wood fires and green countryside, winter can be a lovely time to visit too. Spring, including October, is also a great time to visit.
