The Best Things to do in Bremer Bay WA (2026)

Last Updated on 23 January 2026 by Ariana Svenson

Bremer Bay Western Australia is a tiny town surrounded by some incredible natural wonders and makes a wonderful escape from the busy, frantic world we live in.  We’ve spent some lovely, quiet family getaways in Bremer Bay, and put together this list of things to do in Bremer Bay based on our experiences. Highlights include the Bremer Bay Orcas, the beaches, fishing, and of course visiting the outta this world Fitzgerald River National Park!

If you are considering a Bremer Bay to-do-list, then know that there are a lot of walking and driving trails around the region.  It is famous as a great place for fishing, white sand beaches, walking and also bird watching.  All of these activities could take days, should you wish to go slow and soak up this fantastic part of the world.

The Koreng are the traditional owners of the Bremer Bay area, and were at times referred to as the “Bremer Bay Tribe”.  Their lands included from the Gairdner River to Jerramungup, and Pingrup.  We recognize their continuing connection to land, water and community.  We pay respect to elders past and present and continue a commitment to the amplification of their voices.

Disclosure:  Through my site there are links to affiliates, which means that I might receive commission if you buy something after clicking them.  This costs you no more, and you definitely don’t pay extra.  However, I do get a small amount which contributes to the upkeep of this blog.  Thanks so much for all of your support – and we hope you have a ball in Western Australia!

How Many Days do I Need in Bremer Bay?

When we were planning our family holiday to Bremer Bay we found it hard to work out how long we needed to spend.  It seems like the type of place people can spend a lot of time surfing, swimming or fishing.  We spent four nights and probably could have spent another couple of nights easily.

  • Day 1 – Travel from Albany, via Cheynes Beach.  Arrived in time for a swim at Back Beach.
  • Day 2 – Swimming at John Cove, visit to the Wellstead Museum, sunset at Blossoms Beach.
  • Day 3 – Swimming at Little boat Harbor, mini golf, sunset at Little Boat Harbor.
  • Day 4 – A full day trip to Fitzgerald National Park.
  • Day 5 – Depart to drive from Bremer Bay to Perth.  The distance is just over 500km, taking around 5.5 hours.  You head across country to Gnowangerup, then Katanning, and join the Albany Highway south of Williams.

However, this is a pretty big driving day, so we’d recommend making a detour to the Granite Skywalk at Castle Rock.

Alternatively, you might like to follow our Albany to Esperance Road trip guide in reverse,  making some stops along the way before overnighting in Albany.

Given that there is so much fun stuff to do in Bremer Bay, we realize that things change all the time.  So, it’s really important to us that we provide the most up to date information possible!  That’s why we go through our pages annually making sure they are as current as possible.  As always, if you notice something that’s not quite right, please let us know in the comments!

Whalewatching Bremer Bay

The Bremer Bay Orcas are a reason that a lot of people make the trek to Bremer Bay.  And, with good reason!  There is nowhere else in Australia that you are guaranteed to see such an incredible collection of these amazing whales.

Why do Orcas go to Bremer Bay?

First up, you might be wondering why do Orcas go to Bremer Bay? Also, why this is a great place for Killer Whale watching?  About 70km off shore (from the town of Bremer) is the Bremer Bay Canyon which is nutrient rich and attracts a wide range of fish (prey) for the Orcas to feed on each summer, from January to March each year.

Bremer Bay claims the largest congregation of orcas in the southern hemisphere!  Over 150 orcas known to visit each year.  So confident they are that they will see the Orcas, visitors are guaranteed to spot them. (Or you can go back the next day, free of charge!)

Fun Facts – Why are Orcas also known as Killer Whales?

  • Orcas are dolphins, not whales – but are the largest member of the dolphin family!
  • Orcas are very intelligent and are able to communicate in order to coordinate hunting tactics.
  • It was these hunting tactics which saw ancient sailors seeing groups of orcas hunting and bringing down much larger species.  They were called in Spanish, Asesina Ballenas, literally killer whale!

Best Way to go Whale Watching in Bremer Bay

There are two companies offering Bremer Bay Orca tours, both highly reputable.  Both companies  have specialist vessels, and are family owned and operated.

Whalewatch Western Australia

We went to see the whales at Augusta with this company and thought  that they were highly professional.

Naturaliste Charters  (Whales Australia)

Naturaliste Charters  are the proud founders of the Bremer Canyon Killer Whale Expeditions and commenced the Expeditions in Bremer Bay in 2015. They have departures available from December to April.  You’ll be pleased to know they have an incredible 96% success sighting rate when it comes to seeing the orca, one of the highest success rates globally.

Enjoy commentary from their on board Marine Biologist and have your chance to assist in citizen science and contribute to the amazing research that is conducted in this special area

Can I Take My Children on a Bremer Bay Orca Cruise?

Naturaliste Charters have a strict minimum age 10 for their trips.  This is quite a long day out to the Bremer Bay canyon.  You might like to consider if it’s the right time for your children.  In our experience, some longer and more challenging trips can require more maturity.  The older they are the more they will get out of this once in a lifetime experience.

Some more practical considerations:

Do your kids get motion sickness / have they been on boats before and suffered from sea sickness?

Can they follow instructions?

Wellstead Museum, Bremer Bay things to do

The Wellstead Museum

If you are looking at “what to do in Bremer Bay?” then you must put the very interesting Wellstead Museum and Café on your list.  You can’t help be charmed upon arrival at the property.  The homestead, cottages and stables are made of local stone, and clustered romantically upon a hill.

Now rented out as holiday accommodation, the rustic cottages are approaching 200 years old.  Originally known as the ‘Boys Room’ and the ‘Girls room’ as the original settlers, the Wellstead family, grew in size.

Bremer Bay things to do

Older people especially are likely to take a journey back in time.  They will find all sorts of things from their childhood that other museums might not have considered sufficiently unique to put on display.

Young kids will love the old car collection, as well as the tractors.  After exploring the Wellstead Museum, you can enjoy fresh coffee and snacks at the Museum Café.  It is atmospheric and popular.  The pizzas on friday nights are famous around Bremer Bay!

Mini Golf Bremer Bay WA, The Best Things to do in Bremer Bay WA

Bremer Bay Mini Golf

When it comes to fun, family friendly holidays it always helps for there to be some stand out attractions for the kids to do.  Bremer Bay doesn’t have a lot of these super kid friendly activities.  So, the Bremer Bay Mini Golf was very welcome!

A bit of journey out of town, and apparently in the middle of the farm, the Bremer Bay Mini Golf is a fantastic surprise.  The 18 hole mini golf course is set within a grove of paperbarks.  It definitely gave our avid mini golfers some challengers.

Bremer Bay attractions, lakeside boats

Nearby there is a lake where you can take Banana Boat bikes for a pedal out on the lake.  We had a lovely chat with the friendly owners who shared great information about Bremer Bay and their lifestyle.  Plus, you must try their amazing fruit ice-cream which was really yummy!

The Big Snail

If you want to lay claim to having seen the world’s biggest snail, then make sure you stop at the Big Snail.  The sculpture, by local artist Peter Hill, was  modeled on the South Coast Land Snail, the Bothriembryon Melo.  It weighs 700 kg and is about 10,000 times the size of a garden snail.

Short Walks Around Bremer Bay

Bremer really is a nature lover’s paradise.  Two short walks stand out.

Wellstead Estuary Walk

An easy walk, and well signposted you get great views out across the calm waters of the estuary.  It is 2km to the end, or 4km return.

The Native Snail Trail

This walk links the Bremer Bay Beaches Caravan Park and town.  If you are wondering, the Bremer Bay Beaches park is the one located on the corner of the Point Henry road and on the way to the Wellstead museum.  The recently constructed path is wide and suitable for walking, cycling, scooters, and skateboards.  Adding to the appeal of the walk are the interesting signs and of course – the Big Snail, which we mentioned above.

view from the Bremer Bay Lookout tower, bremer bay western australia

Lookouts in Bremer Bay

With views in every direction, that sincerely take your breath away, you are going to want to put these two Bremer Bay attractions on your list!

Bremer Bay Lookout Tower & Wind Turbine – Quite literally in town, you won’t miss the Bremer Bay Wind turbine moving slowly and majestically from many spots.  This turbine provides 40% of the town’s annual electricity demands, reducing diesel consumption by 40,000 litres.  Take Progress Drive up the steep gravel road and head towards the wind turbine as your guide.  There is an informal parking bay, where we parked, and then followed the bush track up to the steps of the steel structure.  From the top, the views of the turbine are ace.  Also, the vistas of the town and beyond are really stunning.

Tooleburrup Hill lookout offers 360° views over the ocean, Bremer Bay beaches, town and right over to the Stirling Ranges.

Bremer Bay Playgrounds

Bremer Bay Playgrounds

For a pretty small town Bremer Bay has three playgrounds.  That means that if you are travelling with children you are going to be pretty happy!  The best one is the ‘Shipwreck Park’.  It celebrates the wreck of the Agnes, a historical moment in Bremer Bay’s History.

This is an extensive naturescape playground with a range of different climbing and play apparatus for all ages/ skills.  Adjacent is a great skate park which was busy with older kids on skateboards and bikes, though our kids also had a short scoot around on it.  There is also a brand new BBQ area and the entire facility is only a short walk to the Bremer Bay Brewing Company.

attractions in Bremer Bay

Also nature inspired, is the an excellent nature based playground at John Cove.  It is opposite the very funky change rooms with a wonderful mural and the best showers ever – made of surf boards!

The fantastic  Orcas Coffee van was pulled up at the John Cove Playground every day we were in Bremer Bay.  There was always a large number of families enjoying the delicious coffee and excellent playground.  Also – shout out for the great Orcas Coffee merch; my kids ADORE their fantastic hoodies!

The Best Things to do in Bremer Bay WA

Pelican Park is the most conventional of the three playgrounds in Bremer Bay.  There is a lovely grassed area for picnics and a basketball half court.  The little playground is perfect for toddlers and might be good to keep the littlies occupied while you get information at the nearby Community Resource Centre/ Visitor Centre/ Post Office.

Bremer Bay Town

Bremer Bay Town is not large; but it’s got everything you need.  The General Store has got a wide range of supplies, as well as souvenirs and fuel.

For shopping, we stopped by the gorgeous Seachange Boutique and were impressed by the high quality range of dresses and kids clothing – you would expect a lovely range like this at a bigger centre.  There is a cute little souvenir shop inside the visitor centre (which is in the same building as the Post Office, and Pharmacy).

For our family the highlight was the well organized Pelicans Op Shop!  We are huge fans of op shops and finding pre loved items that we need; especially clothes.  This is one of the best op shops we have seen and we’d thoroughly recommend visiting it if you can!  Hours 9-1 on Wednesday and Saturday.

We loved John Cove, Bremer Bay

Ocean Based Bremer Bay WA activities

If you are looking for things to do in Bremer Bay then you should really love time in the ocean.  First up, we read that the Leeuwin Current comes in particularly close to shore at Bremer Bay, making ocean swimming warmer than either Albany or Esperance.  In our experience this was true.

Given we have spent only a week in Bremer, buuuuuut we are far from experts on the best beaches in Bremer Bay. Without a doubt the beaches in Bremer Bay are beyond spectacular; white sands, turquoise waters and so many spots to visit!  From hidden coves to sprawling white sandy beaches and turquoise water.  You can’t help but be blown away by the beauty of the Bremer Bay beaches.

Bremer Bay Beach, body boarding, surfing

Beaches in Bremer Bay

Swimming

Most people consider that the best season for swimming is from December through May, and in that period the water temperature is suitable for comfortable, albeit slightly cold swimming.

Our family loved swimming at John Cove each day, and never crossed the mouth over to the Main Bremer Beach.  We saw a lot of people using SUPs at John Cove even though it was not particularly calm.  The other stunning spot for a swim is Little Boat Harbour beach, though the water gets deep very quickly so you have to be careful with small children.

Blossoms Beach is considered one of the best beaches in Bremer Bay for families as it is shallow a long way out.  You have to take your 4WD down a track to the beach if you want to be close.  There is also a parking area and toilet, but you’d need to carry your things down quite a steep track.

The Best Things to do in Bremer Bay WA

Snorkel with Fish, Sea Grass and Sea Dragons

Our plan was to snorkel at Bremer Bay and keep an eye out for the leafy sea dragon.  There is a huge diversity of species here due to the nutrient rich, cooler temperature waters that can’t survive in nearby waters.  Around Bremer Bay is Australia’s hotspot for Leafy Seadragons and Weedy Seadragons.  We are told that the best snorkel spot in the area is the sheltered Barrens Beach in the Fitzgerald River National Park.

Surfing Bremer Bay

Surfers will have to talk to the locals to get the best breaks.  My kids had fun on their boogie boards at John Cove, and we are told that there are surf lessons at Blossoms Beach in the summer school holidays.

Fishing in Bremer Bay

First up, a total disclaimer – we don’t go fishing.  So if you are looking for Bremer Bay Fishing spots we would highly recommend asking a local.  That said, we saw families fishing on the Wellstead Estuary (off the small jetty off Bennett St), from the beach at John Cove, and out at Short Beach.

Located on the Point Henry Peninsula, Short Beach has deep water with a reef not far from the shore and is said to offer good fishing for Salmon, Skippy and Herring.  There is no vehicle access to the beach.  More info about fishing in Bremer Bay here.

Bremer Bay Beach, Orcas Bremer Bay

Sunset Watching

There are so many beaches in Bremer Bay you will probably find your own secret spot.  We think best place for sunset in Bremer Bay is out on Point Henry Peninsula.

We also loved our nights at Blossoms Beach, and Little Boat Harbour.  Another night we went up the lookout tower near the wind turbine and really loved the views and colors that night.

Whale Watching in Bremer Bay

Bremer Bay offers great whale watching from the shore.  For example, you can use binoculars from the top of Tooleburrup Hill; or the historical cairn (flag tower) at the end of Cuneo Drive or from the Bremer Bay Beach.

The Platform at Point Ann has to be one of the most spectacularly sited places to see whales in the region.  We were also told that the Doubtful Islands were a good spot as well.

Go Four-Wheel Driving on the Beach

First up, if you have a four wheel drive, please stick to the legal four-wheel drive tracks!  Stay off the fragile dune systems in and around Bremer Bay beaches.  Popular beach driving areas for four wheel drivers are Dillion Beach, Blossoms Beach, Peppermint Beach and Whalebone Beach.

Fitzgerald River National Park

Visiting the Fitzgerald River National Park

There is no question – the Fitzgerald River National Park is a truly outstanding park with isolated, barren mountains, rugged cliffs, turquoise waters, white beaches.  And, not to mentioned, spectacular displays of wildflowers between August and October.  We were there in April and surprised at the incredibly variety of wildflowers.

There are a number of spots that can be visited in the Fitzgerald River National Park as part of a day trip.  In fact, in our opinion, if you are looking for things to do in Bremer Bay a trip out to “The Fitz” should not be missed.  Locals told us it was an hour’s drive from Bremer Bay town to Point Ann carpark.  On a combination of bitumen and gravel roads, it took us more like 1.5 hours!  A couple of massive 4WD’s flew past us so clearly we were going slower than the norm.  However, the point is – you should drive to the conditions and your experience.  There were plenty of corrugations and soft bits on the road and took it easy.

Plus, I have said it a million times but I will say it again, this landscape and the plant vegetation is out of this world.  The Fitzgerald Biosphere is one of the most floristically diverse places on earth!  Our wildflower photos reveal just how rich the landscape is in shape and colour.

History of the Fitzgerald National Park

One of the first European explorers to document his impressions was Edward John who was travelling through the area in 1841 with his Aboriginal companion Wylie.  Eyre was not impressed, which is somewhat ironic having just crossed the Nullarbor Plain.

Certainly, he’d nearly died of thirst on the Nullarbor, but now he was now faced with almost continuous rain and his description of Mt Barren in the Fitzgerald River National Park is revealing: ‘Most properly had it been called Mt Barren, for a more wretched arid looking country never existed than that around it’.

Fitzgerald National Park Walks, Bremer Bay Western Australia

Fitzgerald River National Park Day Trip

Point Ann has the captivating title of being a “natural whale nursery”.  It is definitely one of the best whale watching locations in the Bremer Bay area.  Point Ann has viewing platforms from which it’s easy to spot Southern Right and Humpback Whales or just enjoy the sweeping views that will take your breath away.

The Best Things to do in Bremer Bay WA

Point Ann Heritage Trail

If you are visiting the Fitzgerald at any time of the year, allow at least an hour for the Point Ann Heritage Trail, with incredible views over Point Charles Bay and the rugged coast.  In a surprise twist, you come up a section of the infamous rabbit-proof fence, the longest single fence in the world.

The information telling the story about the fence built in the 1900s to stop rabbits and other pests from entering Western Australia’s agricultural areas.  In whale watching season we’d allow extra time to sit and look out to sea at the Point Ann lookout.  In wildflower season you would definitely need more time to admire the amazing blooms.  Speaking of wildflowers, Where to Find the Best Wildflowers in Western Australia is a must-read for wild flower enthusiasts.

Mt Maxwell Fitzgerald National Park Western Australia, Bremer Bay
From the top of Mt Maxwell, with views across the Fitz.

The Mount Maxwell lookout Walk

It is very short – about 200 m.  However, it provided a nice break from the drive, and had great views of the western peaks.  The Royal Hakea and various Banksias were prolific in this area.

West Mount Barren Summit Trail

At 1.7km this trail is still quite challenging, taking 1-2 hours to complete.  It provides vast views over the western side of the park, including Gordon Inlet, Trigelow Beach, Point Ann, and the distant outline of the central Barrens mountains.

Fitzgerald National Park Western Australia

Where to Stay in Fitzgerald River National Park

It’s on our radar to stay at the unique Quaalup Homestead, which is located on the edge of the National park and then have a great base for a hike up West Mount Barren

Campgrounds

Four Mile Campground is managed by DBCA in an isolated part of the Fitzgerald River National Park, located near the stunning Four Mile Beach and  offering short stroll to Barrens Beach (which is good for snorkeling).  Book through the DBCA camping website.

St Mary Inlet Campground is very close to Point Ann Point and is accessible by 2WD ideal place to base yourself if you plan on visiting Point Ann.  The campground is located near the mouth of the inlet and there is a track from the campground that provides direct access to the beach.  This site is quite basic with drop toilets and gas BBQ.

Another option is the Quoin Head Campground.

Bremer Bay Restaurants – The Best Bremer Bay Food & Cafes

Bremer Bay Restaurants Orcas Coffee

Orcas Coffee Van

Parked up under the Paperbarks, next to the fun nature-based playground, and opposite the brightly colored toilet block is Orcas Coffee.  An absolute South Coast institution, you’ll find yourself visiting this Bremer Bay Café (on wheels) nearly every day for a great coffee and cake.  My kids loved the Orcas merch, and we went home with a hoodie that is now very well loved!

Bremer Bay Restaurants, The Telegraph Bremer Bay

The Telegraph Bremer Bay

The Telegraph Bremer Bay is, without a doubt, the place to have breakfast in Bremer.  This gorgeously restored old telegraph station oozes character and charm.  With views across town and out to the ocean, you can sit outside, on the outside verandah (heaters) or in rooms within the homestead.

Guests rave about their pancakes and their tomatoes on toast.  However, if you can’t make it in time for breakfast their selection of coffee and cakes are just as good.  The Telegraph can get busy, as this Bremer Bay food spot is super popular.

This fantastic Bremer Bay restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch.  However, it is closed on Wednesdays.  There is plenty of on-site parking and a grassy area for the kiddos to run around.

The Best Bremer Bay Food & Cafes, Wellstead Cafe, Bremer Bay Cafes

Wellstead Café or Museum Café

This is not only a quant and scrumptious Bremer Bay cafe but also an amazing look back in time at life long ago.  Located on the first farming settlement in Bremer Bay, Wellstead Cafe offers a great bite to eat with a side of history.  You can see relics from the farming settlement like tractors and farming tools.

Enjoy a lovely lunch paired with local wine offerings.  You can satiate your appetite while appreciating some authentic Bremer Bay history.

The hours are from 8am -3 pm weekdays.  Call to check up to date details of when they are closed as it varies between the seasons.

Make sure you check out Wood-fired Pizza Night.  The Wellstead Museum Café is open on every Friday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm for a wood-fired pizza night.  Please order in advance to avoid missing out- especially in Bremer Bay’s peak season.

The Best Bremer Bay Food, Bremer Bay Brewery

Bremer Bay Brewing Co.

Of course a list of Bremer Bay restaurants would not be complete with out mentioning the Bremer Bay Brewing Co.  The staff is friendly and the food is local and fresh.  And don’t forget the beer!  You can take home your favorite cans of brew with you.

Bremer Bay Resort Restaurant, Bremer Bay Restaurants

Bremer Bay Resort Restaurant (Mount Barren Restaurant)

Attached to the lovely Bremer Bay Resort,  this Bremer Bay restaurant offers a casual, family friendly atmosphere with great food as well.

There is a kids lawn for the little ones to get their energy out while mum and dad enjoy a drink or two (and a meal) on the outside patio tables.  There is also covered patio seating should there be inclement weather.  However, if you want to a quiet meal without kids there is a separate (and somewhat secluded) bar and inside seating area.

Bremer Bay Resort Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  They offer a good pub menu.  Their breakfasts selections and chicken parmesan are highly recommended.  Reservations are suggested during peak seasons.

Gnornbup Wines

A small winery and cellar door located at the Great Southerns most eastern vineyard.  Gnornbup Wines gets its name from the native name for Tiger Snake (Gnorn).

This is a beautiful and relaxed setting for wine tasting.  The staff at the cellar door is very knowledgable and helpful.  If you like a full-bodied dessert red, make sure to try the Ploughmans Nip!

The small cellar door is open throughout the summer and on weekends in the off season.  However, make sure to check their website and give them a call to confirm they are open if you are coming from out of town.  Reviews suggest they are prone to periodic closings.

Where to Stay? - Accommodation Bremer Bay WA

Where to Stay? – Accommodation Bremer Bay WA

Bremer Bay Beaches Resort & Tourist Park

Located just out of town on the Point Henry Road, we’d chosen to stay at the Bremer Bay Beaches Resort in a campground.  This was for two main reasons – they allow pets year-round in the campground, and so we could take our small dog with us.  All around the South West of WA many camping grounds and caravan parks are “pet friendly” except during peak periods, which means Christmas through to the end of January, as well as Easter.

And, if camping is not your thing, they do also offer a few self-contained cottages.

This is extremely kid-friendly with a children’s playground, a swimming pool, a jumping castle, and food vans set up on the oval during the peak periods.  In addition, they have basketball and tennis courts.

The Bremer Bay Beaches Resort is located in a peppermint grove, giving shaded camping accommodation.  There are modern clean bathrooms and fully equipped camp kitchens.  In addition, they have deluxe self-contained chalets and a range of other non-camping options.

Bremer Bay Caravan & Camping Park

Another large park in the Bremer Bay area.  The reason we didn’t make a booking here is that pets are allowed all year EXCEPT over our peak periods.

This park is nearly entirely grassed and is situated directly opposite the Wellstead Estuary and a 2-minute drive from the Main Beach in Bremer Bay.  It is only a 10-minute walk into town and has over 130 caravan & camping sites.

Check here for more information for Bremer Bay Caravan & Camping Park.

Bremer Bay Accommodation – Luxury Options

If you are looking for luxury accommodation in Bremer Bay, there are a few options.

Bremer Bay B&B

Bremer Bay Bed and Breakfast offer separate accommodations directly adjacent to the owners home.  The accommodation building has three separate guest rooms to choose from with ensuite.  A full breakfast is included in the accommodation.

The view from the rooms out over the bay are fantastic and guests have report even seeing whales breeching from inside their bedrooms.  A truly remarkable experience.

For booking a stay at Bremer Bay Bed and Breakfast check Booking.com

Lejano Bremer Bay

Located on a hillside, the Lejano Bremer Bay offers magnificent views out over Dillon Bay.  This luxury accommodation, situation on 9 acres, is one large unit.

However, during certain times of the year the separate spaces of the accommodation can be booked individually rather than as a whole.  This allow smaller groups of guests to enjoy this luxury Bremer Bay accommodation and all it has to offer without having to book the entire residence.

When is the Best Time to Visit Bremer Bay

Is Bremer Bay a Kid Friendly Destination?

It really depends how you define “kid friendly destination”.  If you are looking for an old fashioned holiday by the beach, where the kids muck around in the ocean each day, and fish from the jetty in the evening – then Bremer Bay is perfect.  If your kids are a bit more used to being entertained by activities, like mini golf, mazes or even shopping, then you might find that Bremer Bay is a bit quiet for them.

In our opinion, it’s not as kid friendly as Albany or Denmark to the West; which have a lot more to keep kids entertained (e.g. the incredible Denmark beaches). Sorry that’s a sad reflection of our fast paced world.

If you want to check out more kid-friendly destinations, check out our guide to things to do in Denmark.

When is the Best Time to Visit Bremer Bay?

Bremer Bay’s permanent population in 2016 was around 230, but on the Christmas and New Year holiday period the town’s population reached almost 6,500.  During the pandemic, when the borders were closed there were rumours of up to 10,000 people being in Bremer Bay at one time.  Conversations with locals to verify this fact revealed that this was probably an exaggeration – but it was extremely busy.

What to Pack for a Bremer Bay Holiday

This entirely depends on what time of the year you will be embarking on your Bremer Bay holiday.

In the winter months, Bremer Bay can get chilly so make sure you pack appropriate clothing.  This would include layers and a light jacket.  The rest of the year has very temperate weather, so make sure you pack at least a few long sleeve shirts in case the temperature dips.  Either way, make sure to pack good walking shoes or hiking boots if you are planning on exploring Fitzgerald River National Park.

In terms of beach gear, it is best to bring your own.  There are a few shops in town that you can purchase gear or supplies at, but as a tourist destination, items can be pricey.  If you are wondering what beach gear you should bring, check out our Ultimate Beach Packing List for Families and Beach Holidays.  And, if you are traveling with little ones, Toddler Beach Essentials and Beach Gear for Babies is a must-read.  These will give a great idea of what to take.

Things to Do in Bremer Bay WA

Getting around Bremer Bay

If you want to experience the best of the Bremer Bay activities – you are going to need a car.  The most inexpensive hire car companies are if you pickup and drop off in Perth, so it makes sense to do a loop trip.

Remember there are quite a few 4WD tracks around town and in the Fitzgerald National Park.  So, if you think you would like to go off road and experience the true magic of Bremer Bay, then you should hire a 4 WD.  Remember, drive to the conditions, and to your experience.

The Verdict – Things to Do in Bremer Bay WA

So there you have it, our full review of what to do in Bremer Bay!  Not only do we give you details of the best Bremer Bay attractions, but we provide a day by day itinerary of Bremer Bay things to do.  Plus where to stay, and what options you have for eating out.   Whether it is taking a whale watching tour, playing on the beach, or simply relaxing there is something for everyone in Bremer Bay Australia.
