Are you looking for the best dog friendly accommodation in Margaret River? Then join the club, we have been looking as well! The three years since we got our beloved Beaglier puppy have been filled with joy. She is such a wonderful member of the family, we love taking her everywhere we go!
However, let’s be honest, she also cramps our travel style, just a wee bit! When we went to Thailand and Singapore we booked her in a boarding kennel for three weeks. For other holidays a friend of ours has house sat, dog sat, and fed the chooks, guinea pigs, and fish.
However, the best option is if you can take your beloved family dog or pet along with you. So if have found this page you are looking for the best dog friendly accommodation Margaret River!

Disclaimer:
We have not yet stayed in any of these Margaret River accommodation places. They were booked out for the dates we traveled or we ended up leaving the dog with friends and staying in a non-dog-friendly accommodation! We have got one of these places booked for the upcoming April school holidays and can’t wait to share our experiences in dog friendly Margaret river.

Margaret River Hideaway
The Margaret River Hideaway is my pick of pet friendly accommodation in Margaret river because when I rang to find out about what facilities there were for dogs (and little humans)! The owner was absolutely delightful. I’m hoping to book here for our upcoming Margaret river winter escape!
Why is this our pick? It seems like the perfect combination of a family-friendly holiday and dog friendly accommodation Margaret River. The Margaret River hideaway is home to a range of farm animals including Dorper Sheep, alpacas, Scottish Highland Cattle, geese, ducks, guinea fowl, emus, peacocks, and chickens. I can imagine my kids loving the animal feeding, which is held every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. There is even a kid’s playground!
With a lovely view out over the farm and bush, the Margaret River Hideaway Cottages are modern, spacious, and equipped with everything you need to self-cater! Another thing that is important for us during our Margaret River escapes is being able to enjoy our privacy. Reviews say that the cottages are well spaced out so you can enjoy the serenity.
Specific Dog Friendly Information – Margaret River Hideaway
- Well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay, without charge!
- Each of the cottages is fully fenced so that your dog can be left outside. In fact, they have a policy of no dogs being inside but you might like to call them and discuss your particular dog before making a booking.
- Minimum 2-night stay and they are booked out well in advance during school holiday periods.

Caves Road Chalets
The Caves Road Chalets look like another excellent choice for pet friendly accommodation Margaret River. Like the Hideaway, each cottage is fully self-contained, with air-conditioning, wood-burning fires, linen – basically everything you need for an enjoyable holiday!
The chalets are another great spot for a Margaret river escape, as they are nestled amidst 64 acres of picturesque bushland. However, keep in mind as they only have 3 chalets they are often booked out.
Specific Dog Friendly Information – Caves Road Chalets
- There are lots of beautiful trails around the Caves Road Chalet property that you can explore, but they ask you to keep your dog on a lead at all times as this protects the local wildlife.
- Also, one of the most appealing attractions around Margaret River is the stunning beaches and trails of the Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park. However, you can’t take your pet into the national parks and so it is reassuring that if you do need to leave your dog the Caves Road Chalets have special, safe and secure enclosed runs.
- Please let them know when you are booking the breed of dog. As in some cases, they cannot accommodate certain breeds of dog.
- There is a limit of 2 dogs per chalet, and each dog will cost $11 per night.
Do you provide dog-friendly accommodation?“Yes! Dogs are more than welcome. Just let us know before you make your booking, as in rare cases, we cannot accommodate certain breeds of dog. We have a limit of 2 dogs per chalet, and each dog will cost $11 per night.”

Redgate Forest Retreat
Another, slightly more expensive dog friendly accommodation Margaret River is Redgate Forest Retreat. It has a massive sanctuary of peace (167 hectares, with 50 hectares of native forest) just 10 minutes from the center of Margaret River.
It’s located near Redgate Beach, for which it is named, and not far from the Leeuwin Estate, Voyager Estate, and Xanadu Wineries.
There are four accommodation options. Each is very unique. They range from cozy chalets through to the renovated homestead there are two custom-designed chalets that are also wheelchair friendly. Their website states that “being dog owners, we had visited many places in the area which claimed to be dog friendly, but really weren’t”.
Each holiday house has reverse cycle aircon (for those chilly Margaret River winters), well-equipped kitchens, and electric Barbecues!
Specific Dog Friendly Information – Redgate Forest Retreat
- Dogs are welcome at no extra cost.
- Dogs are allowed inside but not on the furniture or bedrooms.
- Each of the backyards is secure (that is, you can leave your dogs there). For families – they even have a trampoline!
- Let the owners know you are bringing a dog – or dogs – and what breed, when booking.

Four Seasons Holiday Park Busselton
If you know the area well, the Four Seasons Holiday Park is located just past the Vasse Bypass which is about 15 minutes drive from Busselton, and 11 minutes from Dunsborough. The locality is Marybrook for those in the know!
Four Seasons is one of the longest operating caravan parks and accommodation providers in the Busselton and Dunsborough areas (over 40 years!) and that gives you a sense of the age of the park.
They are located on a large 22-acre property that is immediately adjacent to the gorgeous Geographe Bay. Better still, this part of Geographe bay is suitable for dogs!
Not only do they allow dogs all year round, but they also have at least 5 dog-friendly cottages. In fact, the Four Seasons Busselton looks like the perfect holiday for both you and your pets! If you stay at these “dog-friendly” cottages you will need to bring all your own linen with you.
In addition to having the dog beach nearby, the Four Seasons have an onsite DIY Doggie spa which is coin-operated – talk about giving your dog a holiday!
Specific Dog Friendly Information – Four Seasons Busselton
- Dogs should be on a lead at all times.
- Don’t take dogs into buildings (except the dog-friendly cottages).
- They provide doggy doo doo bags so that you can clean up after them!

Pet Friendly Accommodation Busselton
If you are looking for pet friendly accommodation Busselton then we have also suggested some other ideas in our post on Busselton Caravan Parks. There is a short section where we have provided some ideas for Busselton dog friendly accommodation.
The truth is, you really have to ring a lot of the parks yourself and find out what their policy is. For example, even if you are camping they may not allow dogs in school holidays or peak periods around Easter or Christmas.
Each Busselton Caravan Park is different –which is why it pays to make some phone calls.
Also, if you will be staying in Busselton, make sure to read The Best Restaurants In Busselton and Visit A Busselton Winery And The Best Busselton Breweries!. These all include pet friendly recommendations.
Big 4 Breeze Holiday Park (Used to be the Big 4 Beachlands Busselton Caravan Park)
One of the most popular caravan Parks in Busselton, the Big 4 Breeze Holiday Park is also one of the most dog friendly Busselton accommodation options to consider. If you are camping or staying in a caravan there are lots of options; however if you are looking for chalet style accommodation, the Breeze Busselton Caravan Park does have selected pet friendly units available.
You can choose from a 2 Bedroom chalet or a 6 berth Spa Villa, linen is included, but they do ask that pets don’t enter the bedrooms. They also charge a $70 pet sanitization fee for the cleaning costs associated with your chalet.
There are minimum stay periods on holidays or long weekends, but apart from that you can stay in this Busselton dog friendly accommodation all year round for just one night!
Things to do in the Greater Margaret River Region – Busselton, Dunsborough, and Yallingup
There is a lot more to do in Busselton than simply visiting the World famous Busselton Jetty. In fact, we think that this is one of the best places to base yourself for an activity-filled holiday. Take a look at our Things To Do In Busselton.
Just around the coast from Busselton, sharing the beautiful expanse of Geographe bay is the popular holiday town of Dunsborough. There are also lots of exciting things to do in Dunsborough, which we have covered in Things To Do In Dunsborough!
Let’s not forget spectacular Yallingup, home of Canal Rocks and the historic caves house. In fact, there are a lot of Things To Do Around Yallingup which will keep you busy for days!
Dogs in National Parks
One of the most popular (and Insta popular) trails in Margaret River is the one to Quinninup Falls. Please be aware that this is in the National Park and is not dog friendly! You are not allowed to take your pets to Quinninup Falls!
As a general rule of thumb, dogs are not permitted in any of the National Parks around Margaret River. This is not only for the native wildlife but to protect your dog, as 1080 baits which are used in National Parks are lethal to domestic dogs.
What are Some Dog Friendly Beaches Margaret River?
If you are taking your pet to Margaret River, you are going to want to know where the dog friendly beaches Margaret River are! I was doing this research for our upcoming holiday away – with the dog – and thought I would share what I found out! Of course, there is nothing better than testing this information in person, so it’s likely I will update it soon!
Margaret River
If you are staying near the Margaret River town itself you will want to head to the northern half of the Gnarabup Dog beach, which is accessed from Riflebutts Reserve. There is also a dog-friendly beach in Gracetown, which is around the bay from the main Gracetown beach. There is a dog ramp there.
Dunsborough
Dogs are welcome on the Dunsborough foreshore, and you can always walk your dog on their lead around the cute holiday village.
If you are looking for a walk along stunning white sands, dogs are welcome off-leash on the most northern end of Bunker Bay Beach!
Sometimes it’s a bit confusing that Meelup Beach is in a Regional Park (not a National Park). Well, the same rules apply here. Dogs aren’t allowed at Meelup Beach other than a small portion of the beach adjacent to the Eagle Bay townsite.
Yallingup
In Yallingup, dogs are allowed on the beach north of the Dawson Drive access path. It’s well signposted and you can walk them from the Dawson Drive path to the Slippery Rocks Car Park. Be aware that as tiny Yallingup is surrounded by National Park. You should use the Dawson Drive entrance.
No dogs allowed at Canal Rocks as this is in the Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park.
Augusta
Flinders Bay is a lovely place to run the pooch. The dog can go free-range from the surfer’s lookout at Albany Terrace to the point where Albany Terrace turns west.
Dog Friendly Wineries Margaret River
Given you are planning to take your pooch on holiday with you down south, it follows that you will be likely looking for some dog friendly wineries Margaret River! We would love to hear if you have more suggestions as we have only taken our girl to these pet friendly restaurants and wineries – we are sure there must be more!
Swings and Roundabouts, Yallingup
Known for its mouth watering pizza, as well as beautiful wine range, Swings and Roundabouts has got a good amount of quirky, including the classic swings seating. Your dog is welcome here, as long as they are on a lead and well behaved!
Xanadu Wines, Margaret River
This is the most elegant of the establishments on this list of dog friendly restaurants in Margaret River. Xanadu has won a lot of awards for its fine wines and stunning cuisine. The outdoor eating area is not as expansive or as informal as some of the places listed above, but Xanadu does welcome well behaved pooches on a lead.
Dog Friendly Breweries Margaret River
We have done a full round up of Best Margaret River Breweries, but which ones are dog-friendly?
Cheeky Monkey Brewery, Wilyabrup
One of our favourite breweries Margaret River, the Cheeky Monkey welcomes dogs. This popular modern brewery serves up great food and your dog is welcome outside under the picnic tables, and near the Playground. If you feel like stretching your legs it’s a nice walk around the dam as well. We’ve not visited the new Monkey Bar in Vasse. However, it sounds like a nice place to get a Cheeky Monkey Beer – and it welcomes pets as well. Given the Monkey Bar is closer to Busselton than Margaret River, this will be a great addition to our Visit A Busselton Winery And The Best Busselton Breweries! post.
The Beerfarm, Metricup
The name Beerfarm really gives the game away – this was once a farm, and its still a working far today. So your dog is welcome and will love the rustic atmosphere. We’ve only visited in winter but the kids have set their sights on the slippery slide down the hill for summer!
The Verdict – Dog Friendly and Pet Friendly Accommodation Margaret River
So there you have it. Honestly, there is not a LOT of dog friendly accommodation in Margaret River so we would love to know if you find another spot that accepts dogs. There is a range of dog friendly wineries and breweries in Margaret River, and also a good number of dog friendly beaches Margaret River!
