Reusable eco water bottles are part of our everyday life so when Super Sparrow asked us to review their beautiful eco-friendly bottle we jumped at the chance!
The benefits of drinking water and staying well hydrated are well known; most people try to get lots of water in these days. By using eco water bottles we also get the chance to do something good for the planet. The days of single use plastics, especially for water bottles are well known.
The best reusable drink bottles are also highly practical – whether using them for going on a hike, or to the gym, to the office or on a road trip, you need a bottle that is going to last the distance. And when its eco-friendly, that’s all the better! One of my very favourite things about this bottle is the interchangeable caps. For example, I can use the attractive screw top lid when in town, but can switch to the sports top when driving in the car or out hiking and need a hands free hydration solution.

What are the benefits of an Eco friendly Reusable Water Bottle?
If you’ve found this post perhaps you already know some, or all of this information about eco water bottles. However, it’s worth relooking at to remind us why buying a reusable water bottle, is a wonderful eco-friendly commitment.
Staying Hydrated is Important – but at What Cost?
The Less Plastic report stated that 22 billion single-use plastic water bottles are consumed globally each year. Did you know that the environmental impact of bottled water begins with the bottle’s fabrication (from oil products) through to the actual bottling of the water – reputedly contributing 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide pollution per year? In other words, the production of water bottles, filling them, and then transporting them (via road and air) to the point of sale is unsustainable both for the emissions and use of natural resources.
After you have drunk the water – most people get rid of the bottle – hopefully via recycling or sometimes via landfills. Just think about this
- Every single piece of plastic ever created still exists somewhere on earth – bottles are creating mountains of trash. Some of these will make their way into our rivers, and ocean.
- Even if you do the right thing, and recycle your plastic water bottles, only a fraction will be recycled.
- Once plastic water bottles are in the environment, they are dangerous to birds, marine wildlife and fish that can be strangled, tangled or choked on bits of plastic or bottle tops.
- Have you ever walked along the beach and noticed that there are bits of plastic intermingled with the sand? Time in the ocean breaks plastic down into particles known as plastic smog. This smog attracts and absorbs other pollutants, and micro-plastic is mistaken for food by ocean creatures.
Why Choose Reusable Eco Water Bottles?
It’s not just about the Environment, it’s about your Health
Nowadays, most people know to avoid BPA, but many people are unaware that several popular bottled water brands still contain significant amounts of micro plastic.
Although plastic bottles may be okay to use when new, disposable bottles leach toxins when they become old, damaged or exposed to hot temperatures (hello, who has taken a plastic bottle to the beach and drunk the super-hot water inside?). We will admit, the extent to which plastic bottles are responsible for health issues is disputable, but personally we are trying to avoid ingesting micro plastics. That is why we go for stainless steel water bottles.
Water Tastes Better in Stainless Steel Water Bottles
Apart from the fact that stainless steel water bottles keep your water cold, you can also frequently clean your water bottle using hot or boiling water and soap so that there is no bacteria build up.
Additionally, because stainless steel is corrosion and rust-resistant, you don’t get a nasty metal taste to your water. That’s why water tastes better when you drink from stainless steel. Also, if the water doesn’t warm up when sitting around in the car it tastes MUCH better.
Last but not Least – Reusable Water Bottles make Good Financial Sense
There are a great range of eco-friendly water bottles on the market. Not only are they good for your health, but they are good for your hip pocket. With good care (try not to drop them) and frequent cleaning they can last a lifetime! My current water bottle prior to our gifting of the Super Sparrow Water bottle had lasted me 10 years and is still going strong, though it does have some dents.
Also, if you bought a bottle of water a day you would easily spend $60 a month (at $2 a bottle). Plus, you would be contributing to landfill, and possibly putting your health at risk. So, in a short time you will save money by buying a high-quality stainless steel water bottle.

Beautiful Stylish Water Bottles
These days with sooooooo many stainless steel water bottles on the market one of the most important aspects of choosing the right water bottle is going to be its design. The patterned series of Super Sparrow water bottles are simply gorgeous. There are really pretty designs to choose from, like Violet, Hibiscus, Oleander, Protea, Pitea and Pineapple.
If you are looking for something a little less “out there”, there are 20 attractive colors in the To Go and Lightweight series – whether it’s a cobalt blue, apple green, sage or many more, there is something to appeal to everyone in there.
My tween daughter especially loves her very pretty Protea designed bottle.
Easy to Use
The folks at Super Sparrow have worked hard to make their reusable water bottle better than any other Stainless Steel Water Bottle! That’s why they claim it is ergonomically shaped to make one-handed use a breeze. Honestly, this will largely depend on the size of your hand. My 11 year old had no problems with the 700mL bottle, whereas that size is a bit big for the 8 year old. A 500mL bottle is better for carrying in your handbag than the 700mL one.
Durability
I will be honest, we are not kind to our reusable water bottles. Australia is a very hot country and we carry a lot of water. Sometimes the bottles are left in the sun in the car, sometimes they are dropped on concrete, and many of them roll around on the floor of the car. To date the Super Sparrow bottle has lived up to the test of time and not cracked. I was slightly worried that the pretty designs would quickly become scratched – but they have not so far. They live up to their claim of being good for hard wearing use.
Eco Friendly Mission
We love the mission of Super Sparrow to “use everyday products and cultivate a community that wants to make a difference for our planet” – but we wanted to check that they really “walked the talk.”
All the Super Sparrow water bottles are recycled and eco-friendly. Our water bottles are certified as carbon neutral products and Climate Pledge Friendly. This means that the materials, production, distribution and end of life of the bottles have all been considered by the Climate Partner certification process. The label “carbon neutral” certifies that unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions have been offset and measured in tonnes of CO2.
Super Sparrow water bottles also support a clean drinking water project in Odisha India.
Great Value for Money
For a high quality water bottle, with insulation properties and being easy to clean, we think that the Super Sparrow Bottles are excellent value for money. Overall, the Super Sparrow bottles are well-made large capacity water bottles, which are definitely up to the challenge of outdoor adventures.
Interchangeable Caps
The Super Sparrow bottles have narrow and wide mouth options, as well as interchangeable lids. All the reusable water bottles we reviewed are wide mouth. This means the mouth is large enough to put ice cubes in – which is awesome for hot days! The insulation then keeps the water cold for many hours, despite being left in a very hot car.
My son has been using the hygienic flip top on the Sports Bottle. It is easier for him to drink out of, and he is always on the go!
