The Nannup Flower and Garden Festival is held every year in mid-August, when the town bursts into colour for one of Western Australia’s best-loved winter events. Tulips and other seasonal flowers line the streets, with markets, garden displays and community events.

The festival is a favourite of garden lovers from across WA, with many visitors returning year after year. It’s also an ideal couples’ day out, family trip or group experience. The 2027 event will be extra special, celebrating the festival’s 30th anniversary.

If you’re planning to visit the Nannup Flower and Garden Festival, this guide is for you. It covers the 2027 festival dates, the best time to go, what to see and do, tickets and practical insider tips to help you plan your visit.

The festival runs for 10 days over two consecutive weekends, so you can choose the dates that work best for your trip, though the two weekends are when the festival feels busiest. Events, workshops, and displays take place throughout the festival.

What are the dates of the Flower and Garden Festival in 2027?

The Nannup Flower and Garden Festival 2027 will run from Friday 6th August to Sunday 15th August 2027.

Where exactly is the Nannup festival?

The Nannup Flower and Garden Festival takes place throughout the Nannup townsite. One of the main festival hubs is the Nannup Town Hall, while markets, displays, workshops and other events are held at different venues around town.

If you’re staying in Bridgetown, Nannup is also close enough for an easy day trip.

Tickets

The Nannup Flower and Garden Festival is free to attend. You can enjoy plenty of displays, markets, and activities without paying for a ticket. However, some workshops, talks, and special events are ticketed separately.

If there’s something you really want to see, check the program and book early. Sessions with well-known gardeners, chefs, and guest speakers can fill up quickly, especially over the weekends.

You can book tickets for individual events through the official Nannup Flower and Garden Festival website. The 2027 ticket prices haven’t been released yet, so we’ll update this guide once the full program goes live.

Events

The Nannup Garden and Flower Festival has a much broader program than you might expect. Along with garden talks and floral displays, past festivals have included food, crafts, live music and evening events.

Some past events have included:

  • Beekeeping workshops – Practical sessions covering bees, hives and the basics of keeping them.
  • Distilling aromatic plants – An introduction to the traditional process of distilling fragrant plants and botanicals.
  • Growing, digging and dividing dahlias – Tips for growing and caring for dahlias at home.
  • Fairy garden workshops – A creative activity focused on making miniature gardens.
  • Wool butterfly crafts – Hands-on craft sessions making decorative butterflies from wool.
  • Line dancing – Perfect if you’re keen to join in and learn a few steps.
  • Bush dancing with the Mucky Duck Bush Band – Live music and traditional bush dancing
  • An evening with Costa Georgiadis – A lively session with the Gardening Australia host, sharing stories, humour and practical advice on sustainability, nature and bringing communities together.
  • Quiz nights with special guests – A fun evening out
  • Drinks and entertainment around town – Local venues also get busy during the festival, with places like Nannup Brewing Co. drawing crowds in the evenings.

There’s plenty for the little ones, too. Past festivals have included a makers tent with free activities and face painting, as well as family-friendly events like herb-garden making.

There are also open spaces where kids could run around. A music stage and live bands also added to the lively atmosphere.

Exploring the Festival

The easiest way to get your bearings is to pick up a festival brochure from the Town Hall. It lists the events, workshops and activities taking place around Nannup. You can also find the same information online if you prefer to plan.

There are plenty of market stalls to browse, selling local crafts, food and garden-related products. The atmosphere is part of the fun, and it’s easy to spend time wandering between the stalls and nearby shops.

Gardening specialists are often on hand too, so it’s a good chance to ask questions about plants, growing conditions, or what might work in your own garden.

Tulips are one of the biggest draws, although flowering can vary from year to year. When I visited in 2026, some were already past their best, while others hadn’t fully opened. It was still lovely to see them around town and get a few photos, but keep in mind that nature doesn’t always follow the festival timetable perfectly.

If you’re a fan of seeing tulips in bloom, I also highly recommend the Araluen Tulip Festival near Perth, which takes place at Araluen Botanic Park.

If you enjoy planning trips around blooms, you can also browse our WA Flowers guides for more places to see seasonal displays across Western Australia.

Drive Trails and Walks

Two of the festival’s regular highlights, the Golden Wattle Arts Trail and Blue Wren Garden Trail, take you beyond the main streets and into the nearby countryside. A car helps, as some stops are spread around town and farther out.

Golden Wattle Arts Trail

The Golden Wattle Arts Trail takes you to local studios, workshops and galleries around Nannup. It’s a chance to meet local artists, see where they work and discover pieces created in the area.

The trail includes stops in town and farther afield, so plan for at least a few hours. Many of the stops are also free to visit.

Blue Wren Garden Trail

If you’re a keen gardener, make time for the Blue Wren Garden Trail. It opens up a selection of private gardens you wouldn’t normally get to see. You’ll find established gardens with mature plantings to newer landscapes inspired by Nannup’s terrain and climate. In the past, there have also been cottage gardens filled with winter bulbs.

The gardens and studios included can change each year. Check the festival program for the latest trail maps, opening times, and participating properties.

Tips for Visiting Nannup Flower Garden Festival

  • Dress for winter weather – August in Nannup can be cool and wet, so bring a warm layer, rain jacket, and comfortable shoes that can handle damp ground.
  • Book popular events early – Talks and workshops with well-known presenters can sell out, especially on the weekends. Check the program as soon as it’s released if there’s something you really want to attend.
  • Allow time to explore beyond the town centre – Some gardens, studios and trail stops are outside central Nannup, so having a car makes it much easier to see more of the festival.
  • Don’t rely on the tulips being at their absolute peak – Flowering depends on the weather, and different varieties can bloom at slightly different times. You’ll still find plenty happening even if the tulips aren’t all at their best.

Final Words: Nannup Garden and Flower Festival

Nannup tulips

The Nannup Flower and Garden Festival is a lovely excuse to visit this beautiful town in winter. There’s much more to it than tulips, with markets, workshops, open gardens, art trails and evening events filling the 10-day program.

With 2027 marking the festival’s 30th year, it looks like an especially good time to go. Check the program before your trip, book any must-do events early, and leave enough time to wander around Nannup and explore trails out of town.
